Metin Küçükkaya was born in 1969. After graduating from the medical faculty in 1992, he began to show an interest toward lengthening and deformity surgery in adults and children. Over the next fifteen years he continued to focus intensively on classical Ilizarov surgeries including complex foot deformities, as well as a special cable bone transport technique and retrograde lengthening over nail technique he later developed.
